Goblin Valley

If you're needing a new place to visit and like to explore, I have the perfect place for you. It is called Goblin Valley. It's pretty much boy heaven. First you have the park where all of the goblins are. This costs a Park fee to get in but is totally worth it. The park then is surrounded by some great mountains with tons of great hiking. We love camping here because it has great facilities, easy hikes, and is a little warmer climate than we live in. We usually visit Goblin Valley in the Winter or Spring.

The boys found a cave this last trip that had a huge hole in the top of it. I believe one of them climbed to the top and threw rocks down. I'm Glad I wasn't there for that. Some things a mother should never know.

Redheads

While the rest of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats." Mark Twain

Not so sure I want to be descended from either. I thought we were created in God's image.

Eagle Court of Honor

Saturday night was the big night. G was awarded his eagle medalian at his court of honor. It was a nice program with a slide show about him from me. And, as a side show a real eagle was brought in. That always makes it fun for everyone who took time out of their busy lives to come and honor the boys. There are so many people who are responsible for an event like this. A dedicated scout leader who was there while Dad was in Afghanistan is definitely to be thanked. I'm not sure there are words to express to someone who would volunteer their time to help with such a thing as this. There were many campouts(rain, snow, or heat!) and a lot of Saturday's dedicated to pow wows. And, I'm so grateful to G for being such a outstanding young man. I love him so much.

Just a little homesick.

I found these two pictures of Southern Utah and they made me very homesick. I grew up in this area and I still think it is amazingly beautiful.

The first one is looking down into Snow Canyon and the second one is Pinevalley Mountain. I just thought I would share them with you. Looks like I need to be taking a little trip home soon.

Remembering ET

The plastic wall with the zipper in it reminds me of the movie ET. Kind of funny. It is to keep moisture out, helping the dehumidifier work best.

Well, as you can see, he didn't have to rip out any walls. He did drill holes under the trim line and insert some hoses that blow dry air in to dry out the drywall and insulation.

On Saturday we had planted our garden and turned on the hose to find that it had frozen inside the wall. That is what caused that break. Luckily someone was in the basement at the time and saw all of the water.

I was surprisingly calm because in my mind I was just happy my husband was not on the other side of the globe. It is a lot easier to deal with when he is home.

Right on Schedule!

Well, it has been two months-ish since we finished our basement and right on schedule the flood came. Luckily not too bad. Unfortunately the ripping out will soon begin. The restore guy will be here soon to let us know the extent of the damage. Cross your fingers.

Ballroom Dancing

Today I had a few free hours so I went to a Ballroom Dance competition. There were a boat load of dancers from all ages. The music was beautiful and so were their dresses. I think we all should have to dress up like that every once in a while. That would be so fun. I know my husband would rather die though.

I actually went to see my niece compete, but they changed the time she would be dancing for later, so I missed it. I hung out for a couple of hours anyways and completely enjoyed myself. I'll have to catch her next time.

Exercise, ya gotta love it!

Today I went for a 7 mile bike ride. I guess it was pretty flat because my watch said I only burned 217 calories. Seems like such a rip off. I mean my legs were pretty much jello when I was done. Obviously its been a while since I've ridden my bike. Maybe I was reading the thing wrong. Anyways it felt great! Great to be out and get some good fresh air. I'll be doing more of that. Like I said it's a good thing I love to exercise.

Spring time in the West!

Well one moment we have warm weather with all of our snow melted and then we have a blizzard to bury us under again. 8 inches this time, Wow!

This first picture is of our beautiful mountains, and the other two are of the snow we got yesterday. One of my sons thought it would be fun to take these pictures.

One Proud Mama!

I just had to post this picture of my handsome son. He recently earned his rank of Eagle Scout and will soon be having his court of honor. He worked very hard for this. When he turned twelve his Dad was deployed to Afghanistan for 15 months. So, with a great leader, and his own determination, he never let down but forged ahead so he would not be behind when his Dad returned. I'm so proud of his accomplishment. He is a wonderful son.

My Little Friend

In all the years that I've gone out walking or running, I've always thought I had gone far enough. Until, that is, I bought my Forerunner 305. I love it! I've had it for a few years now and every single time I use it I'm grateful for it. I love knowing all of my stats, like distance, time, calories, laps, etc. Plus it has a little virtual guy to compete against. Also when I'm training to do a race or build up my distance running it has a walk run feature that signals when to do either.

You must know tho, I'm not a big distance person. I usually only have an hour for exercise so four miles is max. And, I run slower than my Shih Tsu at his brisk walk (embarrassing). He prefers to run with my husband. My goal is a life long goal. At least I'm still moving, and it feels great. Mostly it's a therapy thing. Clears the mind.
