The plastic wall with the zipper in it reminds me of the movie ET. Kind of funny. It is to keep moisture out, helping the dehumidifier work best.
Well, as you can see, he didn't have to rip out any walls. He did drill holes under the trim line and insert some hoses that blow dry air in to dry out the drywall and insulation.
On Saturday we had planted our garden and turned on the hose to find that it had frozen inside the wall. That is what caused that break. Luckily someone was in the basement at the time and saw all of the water.
I was surprisingly calm because in my mind I was just happy my husband was not on the other side of the globe. It is a lot easier to deal with when he is home.
It does look like ET! Wow. I hope everything goes well with the clean up. You are right its a very good thing you aren't a single mom anymore. I would NOT want to deal with something like this on my own.
