Snowman Fun!!!

We got some great snow the other day, so my 17 year old went to town making snowmen. This is the first out front.
Then he got a wild hair and made this lovely thing out back. He is actually fun to look at. I'm pretty sure the table is done for tho. It was worth it.

December Happenings

Here is the daughter at her first piano recital. She said she was nervous, but I couldn't tell.
Here is Son #1 with his date for the Yule Ball. So handsome! And I've gotta get me a dress like that. It was so beautiful.

Free Time!

I leave the house for 10 minutes to take someone to tennis lessons and this is what my 13 year old does in his free time. Save me! I had told him there would be no electronic games on Saturday. I guess I can't complain. I did laugh tho. Don't worry all is well and the redness went away.

Life Happens!

Well, because of a little back pain, I guess I'll be side stepping my running goal. Notice how I didn't say failing or quitting, but side stepping. The running felt so good that I don't want to quit. So...I'll be hooking up the bike to the ol bike trainer and hopefully keeping up on the cardio in a little less pounding way. Not that the way I run(wobble) is very much pounding.

That's life right? Sometimes you just have to redirect yourself.

Day 16

Walk 30 minutes.

Today's walk was rainy and can you believe one of the most beautiful days ever. I'm sure people thought I was crazy to be out in it, but who cares. The Fall colors were... I guess brilliant is the word. The rain seemed to make the colors just pop out. I'm so glad that I'm sticking to it, and not giving in to the elements.

Gratitude

Day 14 - Walk 30 minutes

I thought I would share something very nice today. It's been on my mind for awhile. For just over a month I've been substitute teaching at the high school. It wasn't always the best experience, which is what you would expect to hear. But, I was surprised at how kind some of them were to me. Every day when they would leave class some would say, "Thank you". At first it really caught me off guard, and wondered if it was sarcastic, but after awhile I noticed they really meant it. Some of them, on their own time, made me treats and others made the effort to tell me that they appreciated all of the time I spent.

We hear about so many sad and scary things happening with the youth these days, I wanted you to know that I think the majority of them are pretty awesome.

Day 12 - Feeling Toner

'Are you going to be a wimp, or are you going to be strong today?'" --Peter Maher, two-time Olympic marathoner from Canada.

It's amazing but after just two weeks of only 30 minute walk/runs my body is feeling toner. This is a good thing because I was starting to have some back pains and some insomnia. I hate it when I can't sleep through the night.

I choose to be strong today. Day 12 here I come.

Day 11

Today's run went well. (Run 4 minutes, walk 1 minute, 6 times) Amazing how my body is capable but my mind struggles. So, a thought while running...I can do hard things. This phrase became a part of me last Spring when I had to talk at my almost 6 year old nephew's funeral. Speaking at such an event was my biggest fear, but I knew I had to do it. So, I told myself over and over that I can do hard things. I can. I've done many difficult things over the years. The consequence for all of those difficult experiences...a better me.

Day 10 - Determination

Today is day 10 of my 30 minute running training program. Things are going well physically, it's always just the brain game I have to go through. I've decided to make a list of 101 reasons to run to help me get through this. If you have any suggestions feel free to comment.

Also, I have a picture of one of my sons finishing a cross country race. I love the determination on his face and have realized that I don't have that in me any more. The drive to push yourself really hard. I need to find that again in the exercise part of my life and not just in the I'm excited to go out to lunch with my friends part of life.:)
